What is a Fractional Operations Leader?

A Fractional Operations Leader  is an experienced operations manager who works part-time as the owner or COO's right hand. They help a company to build and run the systems, people, and accountability that keep day-to-day execution on track—without the company hiring a full-time ops leader.

What a FOL is typically responsible for:

  • Designed Partnership - Collaborative Leadership & Execution Partner to the Owner or COO.

    • Build a simple org + ownership map (who owns what outcomes)

    • Define role expectations and performance standards

    • Create decision rights (what leaders can decide without approval)

    • Strengthen follow-through with clear commitments and consequences

  • Coaching - Developing leaders or managers through 1on1 or small groups on:

    • Delegation, empowerment and ownership.

    • Conflict and accountability conversations. How to have hard conversations.

    • Decision-making and problem-solving teaching the Divergent and Convergent probmem solving model.

    • Communication standards and emotional discipline.
